Nikhothi Climbing Gym

Nikozi Climbing Gym is located in the village of Nikozi, Gori Municipality, just one kilometer from the border of occupied Samachablo [South Ossetia].

Nikozi is a village in eastern Georgia, located in the Gori Municipality of the Shida Kartli region (Nikozi administrative unit). It sits at an elevation of 850 meters above sea level, 28 km from Gori, with a population of 643 people. Since 2011, the village has annually hosted the "Nikozi" International Animated Film Festival. Nikozi is situated near the administrative boundary of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Region. In 2007, the village's strategic importance increased with the construction of the Nikozi–Avnevi bypass road.

Nikozi suffered heavy damage during the August 2008 Russian military aggression: residential areas were bombed and looted, and the episcopal palace within the Gvtaeba complex was destroyed. The ongoing illegal "borderization" process along the occupation line poses a continuous threat to the village's security.

The climbing gym features 4 to 4.5-meter-high bouldering walls and a selection of workout equipment.

The gym operates 2 days a week, primarily for local children's training.

If you would like to climb here, please contact the administration in advance.

How to get there

What you need
