Route

  1. Starting Point: Asatiani–Pirosmani Saddle (Saddle Base)
  2. Target: Asatiani Summit (3,842 m)
  3. Landmarks in View: Leonidze Summit (left foreground), Kameruni Summit (background left), Leonidze–Asatiani Couloir (snow/ice couloir on the left flank)
  4. Pitch Count: ~6 Key Anchored Pitch Sections (marked by yellow dots on the red topo line)
  5. Descent: Standard descent route from Asatiani Summit (2A / 4A depending on conditions)

Pitch-by-Pitch Breakdown (Based on Topo):

  1. Approach & Base: Start from the Asatiani–Pirosmani Saddle, ascending the snow patch and lower fractured rock toe to reach the base of the rock wall.
  2. Pitch 1 (Saddle to Station 1): Climb directly up the lower steep rock pillar via vertical cracks to establish the first belay station (Station 1).
  3. Pitch 2 (Station 1 to Station 2): Continue up the steep crack system, then make a distinct traverse to the left across a rock ledge/tier to set the second anchor (Station 2) on the left-center face.
  4. Pitch 3 (Station 2 to Station 3): Traverse diagonally back to the right across steep slabs and dihedrals, gaining height until reaching a stable platform (Station 3).
  5. Pitch 4 (Station 3 to Station 4): Climb straight up the pillar face, heading toward the upper headwall/roof zone to build the fourth anchor (Station 4).
  6. Pitch 5 (Station 4 to Station 5): Pass the technical crux section/headwall, trending slightly left on steep rock plates to gain the final upper ridge section (Station 5).
  7. Pitch 6 & Ridge Finish (Station 5 to Summit): Follow the remaining steep rock crest straight up to top out directly onto Asatiani Summit.
