Support Outdoor Climbing Routes Bolting in Georgia
Together we will develop climbing routes on outdoor rocks in Georgia
Rock climbing in Georgia has a rich history that dates back to the Soviet era. However, a completely new chapter began in 2006, when Guga Dabrundashvili equipped the country’s first sport route on natural rock in full compliance with international safety standards. This milestone laid the foundation for modern Georgian rock climbing. Since then, Georgian climbers and local enthusiasts have worked tirelessly: relying entirely on their own resources and private funding to discover, clean, and bolt new climbing sectors across Georgia. Unfortunately, sport climbing still receives little to no state or institutional support. As a result, the financial burden of opening new routes and maintaining safety on existing ones falls solely on the climbing community. Thanks to these efforts, Georgia is now home to nearly 400 sport routes, transforming the country into an emerging regional hub for both local and international climbers. Become Part of Georgian Climbing Development! If you would like to contribute to the development of Georgia’s natural crags and help promote sport climbing, you can support us financially. Every single GEL/dollar raised directly funds the purchase of high-quality, certified equipment required for bolting new routes and maintaining strict safety standards. Every contribution, no matter the size, means the world to us.
