Route

The standard route begins at the lower section of the Maili Plateau, where the Gergeti Glacier curves to the north. From there, the route ascends the snowy and icy north-west face (maximum incline of ~40°) to the ridge. Be cautious of crevasses! Once on the ridge, the route to the summit is typically straightforward. The entire climb from the refuge (see below) to the top and back takes approximately 4-5 hours. Although this is considered an easy climb, standard mountain hazards such as poor visibility, heavy snowfall, or strong winds may occur, so it’s important to stay alert.
