Climbing In Jinvali (Ananuri)

Small crag near Jinvali on the way to Kazbegi. Great rock quality! Gets shady after midday. Bring a helmet for safety—a perfect pit stop from Tbilisi.

If you are traveling from Tbilisi toward Kazbegi, there is a wonderful little climbing sector near Zhinvali that is definitely worth visiting! Even though it is relatively small, the rock quality is genuinely great and offers several interesting routes.

Area is not free for bolting !!!

In case if you plan to come for bolting in Georgia please let local community to know about your plans. Any line which does not fit in our standards will be removed.

Dry tolling is not allowed  in climbing area.

camping is not allowed under climbing lines  !!!!!!!

How to get there

The sector is located on the road from Tbilisi toward Gudauri/Kazbegi, near the Zhinvali Reservoir (see map).

Best time to visit

A major plus of this sector is the shade in the afternoon, making it possible to climb in the shade after 1–2 PM.
